Treatment for Corns and Calluses

Our Podiatrists are able to remove corns and calluses in as little as one treatment, giving you instant relief and the feeling that you can walk for miles!

Corns and calluses are concentrated areas of hard skin that build up over weight bearing areas of the feet. These build up on the feet in response to mechanical pressure, friction and shearing stresses within the footwear. Callus can cause a feeling of burning and discomfort in the feet and usually form over the forefoot, big toe joints and heel areas.

Calluses affect mainly adults and are more prevalent in active people such as athletes and people that wear sandal footwear where the heels are exposed. Corns tend to develop over weight bearing joints and between toes and can make you feel like you have a stone in your shoe.

Corn and callus removal is performed by our HCPC registered Podiatrists who are trained extensively in scalpel debridement. Calluses and corns are removed with a  fine scalpel blade and then the skin is smoothed  with a mechanical sanding disc. Your Podiatrist will determine in your Initial Podiatry Consultation your suitability for treatment and will provide you with advice on keeping your feet in top condition and staying as pain free as possible going forward.

Heavy build up of callus and corns may be a sign of a biomechanical or gait related issue. If you are experiencing pain when you walk you may benefit from a Musculoskeletal Consultation with Video Gait Analysis with our Musculoskeletal Podiatrist.
